PRE – NOTICE OF RACE
Swan European Regatta and Swan 45 World Championships
2 - 8 July 2007

Nautor’s Swan, together with the Royal Yacht Squadron, are pleased to announce that the 13th running of the Swan European Regatta and the 2nd running of the Swan 45 World Championships will be held concurrently in the Solent, off Cowes, Isle of Wight, England, between 2nd and 8th July 2007.

The Swan European Regatta started its life in 1983 in Cowes, Isle of Wight hosted by the Royal London Yacht Club, returning to the same venue in 1985. In 1987 the regatta moved to St Peter Port, Guernsey where it remained until 1995 when the regatta returned to its origins in Cowes.

Since 1995 the regatta has been hosted by the prestigious Royal Yacht Squadron and 2007 will once again see the Swan fleet welcomed by the Royal Yacht Squadron, Nautor’s Swan and the residents of Cowes for a week of competitive sailing in the challenging waters of the Solent.

The objective is to hold ten races in all, of which the minimum to count for the championships and regatta will be one. If more than eight races are completed, one discard will be permitted. It is hoped that the events will include one longer race.

The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing 2005 – 2008.
