Are you looking for a boat to sail on this Summer?
If so you may be interested in Solent Sailors - www.solentsailors.org.
IDEA: The idea behind Solent Sailors is simply to match available crew with boats that are short of crew. It is completely free of charge and concentrates solely on the Solent.
HOW DOES IT WORK? It works by running two lists a boat list and a crew list. For instance, If you are looking for crew you would read (or subscribe to) the crew list - to see if there is someone suitable. You would also post a message on the boat list (so sailors looking for a boat read your message). The lists are hosted by Yahoo Groups.
SOUNDS COMPLICATED! It is a bit thats why the site helps to make sure you read and post messages on the right list.
IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU COULD DO TWO THINGS:
Firstly, visit the site www.solentsailors.org and keep a note of it in case you ever need either crew or a ride.
Secondly, pass this web address on to anyone who might find it useful as the more people use the site, the more useful it becomes.
IF YOU ARE WEB SAVVY: If you use things like Facebook or MySpace then link into the groups set up there. It will help those looking for Crew/Crew spots. An additional aim is to leverage these social networking sites to link in additional numbers, promote repeat visits and provide a basic recommendation service.
