The RYS IOW Foundation (RYSF) is funded by Members of the Royal Yacht Squadron in order to help young people, with strong connections to the Isle of Wight, to get started in a career that has a maritime element.
The Isle of Wight is already home to many successful maritime businesses with plenty of job opportunities. Training facilities and maritime industry employers abound both on the island and the nearby on the mainland.
Many young people need guidance as to what careers are on offer and are probably unaware of the qualifications they need in order to gain employment in the sector that interests them most.
The RYSF does more than provide financial assistance. Mentoring and giving general advice plays a vital part in ensuring greater chances of success for those that we are able to support.
