8M & 6M Regatta
The Royal Yacht Squadron is delighted to be hosting three weekends of racing for the International 8 Metre Class and two weekends racing for the International 6 Metre Class.
Racing for the 8 Metres, will include The Lady Magdalen Bulkeley Cup, and take place on the following dates:
May 19 – 20, June 2 – 3, June 16 – 17. There will be two races per day with the first weekend racing from the RYS Line and subsequent weekends from a committee vessel.
Lady Magdalen Bulkeley’s Cup
The cup was originally won by Major D.R. (Bobby) Peel of Tyne Hall, Bembridge in his 8 Metre Yacht “Carron 2” in 1939 and bears the insignia of the Royal Yacht Squadron on its underside.
The cup has now been presented to the Royal Yacht Squadron by Jonathan Peel to be raced for annually by the 8 Metre Class consisting of a minimum of two races. The cup is to remain at the RYS and the winner’s names to be inscribed on a base that the cup will rest.
Racing for the 6 Metres, will include the British Open Championships, and will take place on the
June 2 – 3, June 16 – 17
The British Open Championships prizes will include “The Lion Bowl” for the Open Division (Modern) and “The Dudley Head Salver” for the Classic Division.

A regatta Dinner will be held on Saturday 2nd June in the Castle. Owners are invited to book in using the online form, details of the evening are as follows:
19.30: Champagne Reception
Dress code will be Mess Kit/Black Tie. The price of the evening will be £70.00 to include a Champagne reception and a 3 course dinner with wines. Bookings must be received no later than Thursday 31st May.
In addition to the dinner, competitors are welcome to make use of the Pavilion bar post racing throughout the regatta weekends.
